Blepharoplasty

BLEFAROPLASTIA

Blepharoplasty is the surgery that corrects excess skin and fat in the area around the eyes. Generally, the upper eyelid tends to have excess skin with age, creating wrinkles or folds in the skin, making makeup difficult for women and creating a tired appearance of the eye, in very advanced cases even obstructing vision. With this surgery you will have a more youthful appearance.

The surgery is performed by cutting the excess skin, creating a scar on the upper eyelid that is hidden when the eye is open. A cut is made on the lower eyelid just below the lashes, and both cuts and their scars become undetectable over time.

Type of anesthesia: Local and sedation

Duration: 1-2 hrs

Recovery time: 3-5 days

Important aspects of recovery:

-The stitches are removed after 5 days, to avoid marking the skin. There may be some swelling and receding of the eyelids in the first few days, but they resolve quickly.

-In case of feeling a “foreign body” in the eye or dry eye, artificial tears can be used for the first few days.

-The final result takes between 3 and 6 months, HOWEVER, the changes are noticeable immediately after the surgery.

-It is necessary to be patient in the recovery to obtain an excellent result, being able to accelerate the softening of the scar with massages at home.

-Protect your face of the sun, wear sunglasses and sunblock after 1 or 2 weeks of your surgery.
