Otoplasty

Otoplasty is the surgery that changes the shape of the ears, when in general they are very large, or are very protruding to the sides. Generally this is noticed by the same patients when they look in mirrors or photographs and see that their ears protrude a lot from their face to the side.

The surgery is performed through cuts in the back of the ears, through which we can modify both the skin and the cartilage of the ears, resulting in a hidden and not visible scar. In case it is a very large ear, you need to cut through it, but in a way that is almost imperceptible.

Duration: 1-2 hrs

Recovery time: 5-7 days

Important aspects of recovery:

-The sutures are removed after 5-7 days, depending on the tension and quality of the skin at the site of the skin closure.

-A splint with an elastic band and a few pieces of pleated cotton is usually left to maintain the shape of the repair.

-The elastic band is worn for 2-3 weeks, to avoid deformation of the repair.

-The final result takes between 2 or 3 months, even so, the changes in the shape are noticeable immediately after the surgery.

-You have to be patient in your recovery to get an excellent result, be careful not to hurt your ears, and follow the directions at all times.
